Anyone who's used an LED flashlight will probably never go back to using an incandescent, but it's a shame that 90% of that old flashlight that will go in the garbage--the housing, the grip, the rechargeable batteries--is still perfectly good, just attached to an outdated bulb technology.
Tool manufacturer Milwaukee is getting around this with their LED Module flashlight upgrade, with which you don't have to toss your old Milwaukee torch, just swap out the bulbs. The new LED bulbs last an estimated three to eight times as long on a single charge and will outlive regular flashlight bulbs by a factor of 250. You get a better quality of light and don't have to throw anything away, except the little incandescent offender.
